Shamita Shetty’s Endometriosis Surgery: Exploring Symptoms, Causes, and Treatment Options
Actress Shamita Shetty, known for her stint on Bigg Boss 15, recently underwent surgery for endometriosis, a condition she openly shared with her social media followers via Instagram from her hospital bed. Shetty urges women to educate themselves about this often overlooked ailment, revealing that approximately 40{c433bfb4c97e7a07f54293d5c38eb960aac2c7da0a617493a0dcd356b5e489a7} of women are affected by it, yet many remain unaware.
In her Instagram post, Shetty expressed her gratitude to her doctors, including her gynecologist Dr. Neeta Warty and her GP Dr. Sunita Banerjee, for their persistent efforts in identifying the root cause of her pain. With the disease surgically addressed, she looks forward to improved health and days free from physical discomfort.
Endometriosis is characterized by the growth of tissue similar to the uterine lining outside the uterus. It manifests with severe pelvic pain and can pose challenges to conception. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it can commence during a person’s first menstrual period and persist until menopause.
The condition triggers the formation of tissue outside the uterus, leading to inflammation and the development of scar tissue in the pelvic region, and in rare cases, elsewhere in the body. While the cause of endometriosis remains unknown, there are no established methods for preventing it. Although there is no cure, symptoms can be managed through medications or, in some instances, surgery.
